GRADE K-2 CLASSES
K-2 Math Enrichment Instructor: Manuel Macedo Class Minimum: 6 Students
Class Time: M 9:30-10:30 Class Fee: $240 per semester
This class will both focus on the “WHY” of mathematics and develop the neural synapses in the brain necessary for arithmetic and later more abstract mathematics. Students will use a variety of puzzles and challenges to develop logical thinking and the ability to recognize patterns when forming problem solving strategies. Children of this age benefit from hands-on activities which actually help the mathematical areas of the brain to make connections and increase the neurons electrical firings! Instruction in the four operations of arithmetic and basic geometry will be done by ability grouping while other ability groups are working on puzzle solving.
K-2 Literature Experiences Instructor: Martha Desmond Class Minimum: 6 students
Class Time: M 10:45-11:45 Class Fee: $240 per semester
Let your child explore literature and connect to science and social with fun, hands-on activities! Each Literature Unit will consist of interesting, vibrant books read in class followed by two to three weeks of extension experiences to make the people and places described in the book come alive! Children will fine tune large and small muscle development, express themselves creatively through drama and art, all while discovering ELA, science and social studies concepts! Come join in the fun!

Time: M 10:30-10:45 Class Fee: Free to students enrolled in Math and Literature.
How often does your K-2 student have the opportunity to participate in playground games? During the break between Literature and Math Enrichment, students will have the chance to have a quick snack, use the restroom and also participate in a supervised group games! Teacher Assistants and parent volunteers will be on the team with Mrs. Desmond to offer your children these opportunities to learn physical skills and good sportsmanship...and hopefully develop some friendships along the way!!

Gr. 3-5 Earth Science Instructor: Martha Desmond Class Minimum: 6 students
Class Time: M 9:30-10:30 Class Fee: $262.50 per semester
How big is the earth and what is inside of it? What makes waves? In what part of the atmosphere does weather occur? Is there a difference between a hurricane and a tornado? Students in grades 3-5 will take the journey from the inner layers of the earth out to the layers of the upper atmosphere as they participate in hands-on labs exploring one major topic of Earth Science per quarter: Geology, Weather, the Atmosphere, and Oceanography! Each class will include a lab and lab sheet. All materials provided.

American Girl Club Instructor: Martha Desmond Class Minimum: 4 Grade Level: 3-5
Class Time: M—12:00-12:30 Class Fee: $150 per Semester
Did you know there used to be an official American Girl Club offered by the original makers of the American Girl dolls? If your child would like to earn a charm for each of the four original American Girl dolls by completing crafts, history, cooking, writing, and other projects, then this is the class for them! We will look at the life and times of Felicity (1770’s), Addy (1860’s), Samantha (1920’s), and Molly (1940’s). In addition, Mr. Macedo has books that can be checked out and read while we are in the time period of each girl!
Board & Card Game Club Instructor: Manuel Macedo Class Minimum: 4 Grade Level: 3-5
Class Time: M—12:00-12:30 Class Fee: $150 per Semester
Mr. Macedo is a collector of many things, one of them being board games! If your child is a board game enthusiast. This class is for them! Each week, Mr. Macedo will bring one of his many board or card games for students to learn and play! If games need to be extended beyond the 30 minutes of the class, well, now worries! This class is followed by a 30 minute lunch break so students will be able to continue on!!
Art: Drawing & Sketching Instructor: Manuel Macedo Class Minimum: 6 Grade Level: 3-12
Class Time: M—1:00-2:00 Class Fee: $262.50 per Semester
In France there is a saying: Everyone is an artist!! let the blooming artist in your child unfold as they explore the basic art form of drawing and sketching! Students will have the opportunity to work with graphite pencils in varying shades, colored pencils, charcoals, and pastels! Mr. Macedo makes learning the fundamentals of drawing and sketching a fun adventure as he brings in various types of paper, subjects, and lighting!! The goal of the class is to be exposed to various drawing situations (still life, landscape, portrait, close-ups, etc.) and styles (realism, impressionism, fantasy, etc.) so that, ultimately, the student develops his or her own artistic style!

Drama & Theater Instructor: Teresa Orr Class Minimum: 6 Grade Level: 3-5
Class Time: M—1:00-2:00 Class Fee: $240 per Semester
Do you agree with Shakespeare that “All the world’s a stage,” then join the Drama and Theater class!! Mrs. Orr will guide you through theater games which will bring you into rare acting form. Gain confidence in your ability to be in front of any group while having fun exploring what it might be like to be a character similar to yourself but in a new circumstance, or a character that is completely different than the person that is you! Learn to memorize lines by “becoming” a character. As a final project, at the end of each semester, you will be performing for family and friends!!
